What Should a Routine EV Charging Station Inspection Cover?
STATION O&M PRACTICE
Routine inspection helps identify equipment abnormalities and site risks early while creating traceable records for maintenance and operating decisions. The inspection scope should reflect the station size, charger types, and actual operating conditions.
Charger Operating Status
Check charger enclosures, displays, connectors, and operating status. Record fault messages, unusual sounds, visible damage, or unavailable equipment. When an abnormality is found, stop the affected operation and arrange further troubleshooting.
Supporting Facilities and Site Environment
Review the visible condition of power distribution facilities, fire equipment, parking bay markings, lighting, drainage, and the general site environment. Keep access and operating areas clear. Internal electrical inspection and repair should be performed by suitably capable personnel following appropriate safety procedures.
Records, Reporting, and Closure
- Record inspection time, equipment ID, symptoms, and site photos;
- Classify issues by impact and report them promptly;
- Track repairs, module replacement, and return-to-service status;
- Summarize recurring issues to support future maintenance planning.
